Hello everyone! Today’s blog post is all about bird photography! If you were following me back in August (2020), the first month of this blog, you might remember my post on Bird Photography 2020. You can consider this to be a sequel post. 😊 In this post I am also going to look at the differences since then after changing camera and using different lenses.
In this post I am using my Canon EOS 250d and Canon STM 55-250mm lens. I have not done a post on the 55-250mm STM Lens so please let me know if you want to know more about the lens (I’ll answer any questions in the comments).
Here is the first photo for today. I used Google Lens to see what bird this is and it said that it is a Buzzard. Not sure if it is or not, I’m not really a bird expert.
I wanted to talk about the gear a bit. I was looking and comparing this shot to a similar shot from the Nikon and see decreased noise, detail, and more natural colors. I do have to mention that I didn’t edit photos for the other post so that might come into this as well. Here are the two shots side by side:
The photos are fairly different as you can see, but I do still prefer the overall photo from the 250d and STM lens.
This next photo is one of a few birds that I had been trying to capture at a nearby park.
Not entirely sure what this bird is and couldn’t quite get it on Google Lens, so I’d love to know in the comments. 😊
I wanted to end this blog post with some photos of ducks. 🙂
Now that I have all the photos above, I want to talk a bit more about the quality change in these photos.
In my opinion, all the shots directly from the camera on my 250d have more natural colors whereas the p900 seems to have very saturated colors. I definitely prefer less saturation in photos.
The 250d has much more detail in the shots than the p900. It helps that the 250d can have different lenses that are made for specific photos.
Those are the two main areas where I found that the photos shined more than the last bird photography post.
Sorry for the short post this week, last week’s post took a ton of time and I ended up with very little time to make this post. I would love to know your thoughts about the photos in the comments! Also, you already know to like and follow too. 😊
